I am a recent cycling addict who recognizes the value of home.
Since I bought my touring bike last spring, I’ve experienced a seemingly boundless craving to pound those pedals and look forward to my 2500km journey this summer all the way home.
As much as I enjoy exploring and traveling, I have always loved returning home. I can’t imagine life without a place to share silly jokes and delicious food with the people I love and then safely rest my weary head at night. We all need a home, and an abundance of research shows that we can’t achieve optimal well-being without it.
In a prosperous country like Canada there is no reason we can’t live in communities where we all live in descent homes.
So, I have decided to combine my love of cycling and passion for my community by pedaling across Eastern Canada, from St.John’s, Newfoundland, to North Bay, Ontario. My aim is to raise $1 for every kilometer I ride and have the money go directly to:
